Released from the law, bound to Christ

 2020, 8 Jan

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Romans 7:15 NIV

Thank you Lord, for this morning when i woke up. I can learn about your Word. I'm investigating about Paul in Roman book. Paul talks about sin and struggle a lot. This is not just others people struggle but his struggle too.

This chapter tells of the struggle of Paul who was converted to be a disciple of Jesus but is still tempted by sin that leads to death. From previous chapter Paul talks about slaves to righteousness. Who is my lord? sin or Christ? whereas as a free person I am no longer a slave to sin.

Paul also explained that even though he had spiritually belonged to Christ, the old man could not just change instantly and be free from sin. but he still has to struggle and struggle with his sin.

As a disciples, I also learn about God's Word and the longer my knowledge and wisdom increase. I studied the law and also the books. so that I know more and more of my sins and transgressions.

That's where I knew that I was just trying to obey the law without using the grace of Jesus.

I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:19‭, ‬22‭-‬23 NIV

knowledge of truth increases but my sinful nature as flesh will still be there. and sin can entice and lie to me to do what the sinful will is. even though I know what's big. just don't want to do it.

that's why I need to feed myself constantly with God's Word and truth so that my heart continues to be guarded by God's Word and not be deceived by the tempting offer of the world. besides that I must not separate myself from the fellowship of other congregations so that what I see strengthens me instead of bringing me down, and always pray to God.

What are the temptations? for example my laziness, my pride, my evil thoughts, my selfishness, my acceptance by others, obscene thoughts, greed, jealousy, comparing with others, not being open, worshiping idols, not prioritizing God, not wanting to love, and so on. it is flesh but I no longer live under the law and flesh but because of Christ.

It's true, when I do the word of God, my joy is added even more.

So grateful today. Let's enjoy today with You my Father. ♥️
